Candy.

It’s basically my favorite food group.

I know, it’s wrong…I have tried to change…

but basically it’s impossible.

I can’t quit it.

And you know, sometimes making your own candy at home is fun and all..but then there is the other 99% of the time that you just want to rip open that paper package and inhale all the peanut buttery cup preservatives before shoving 13 in your face.

I know, I clearly have a problem.

But what I’m here to talk about today is the other 1%.

The “make your own candy because you’re super crafty” percent.

And this coconut candy is almost as easy as ripping open a wrapper.  I promise.  I had my little pieces made in like 5 minutes and that ain’t no lie.

So like I said…these little candy pieces need to find a way into your life asap.

Clearly you have to enjoy coconut for these to be your jam…but one more little ditty that makes them extra special is the tiny squeeze of chocolate on top.

Last week I got this number in the mail…

PicMonkey Collage

Hershey’s has made the leap into the spreadable market.

Let’s let that one marinate.

I got a fun kit that included three spread flavors, and a whole lotta stuff to dip in those spreads: cookies, crackers, granola bars…a spoon…

So fun.

And while I totally jumped all over the dippable and spreadable aspect, I thought…what else can I do with this?

Let’s discuss…

How to Make This Easy Candy Recipe

These candies have literally 4 ingredients.

That’s when this bad boy comes into play…I used the chocolate, but clearly you could use whatever you’d like.

I put a little but into a zip top bag with the corner cut off.

  1. Oh I have been searching for this recipe for years! Thank you for posting this. I made these years ago for a Christmas bake sale and they sold like hotcakes! I then lost the recipe. My recipe called for almond flavoring in the candy and a half maraschino cherry on top. They looked like a thumbprint cookie, but they were candy. Oh they were delicious!

  2. You can use toasted coconut too. I like the recipe both ways regular coconut or the toasted, I included how to toast your coconut flakes 🙂

1 cup Shredded Or Flaked Coconut
    INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 325ºF. Place shredded or flaked coconut evenly on a large baking sheet that has been lined with a Silpat baking mat or parchment paper.

Put the baking sheet on the middle rack and bake for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, open the oven and gently stir the coconut with a spatula. Bake until the coconut is golden brown, about 3–4 more minutes. Remove from oven and cool completely.

Note: Make sure you keep an eye on the toasted coconut. Once it starts to toast, it toasts quickly!

  3. This was an awesome, so easy, recipe that everyone loved. I used these to make a snow tree tower for a summer snow party; it turned out perfect. I put a chocolate chip in the middle of eat ball, used a 9” cone, toothpicks, and doubled the recipe. Perfect & beautiful! Wish I could post a pick. Thank you!

  4. Great recipe! Replaced the butter with coconut shortening and halved the sugar and it tastes wonderful. I melted Hershey kisses and drizzled it on top and it was divine.
