New Years Giveaway!

Christmas is over.

All the prep, all the work, all the anticipation…over.

My decorations are down and the stuff is put away.  Sigh.

New Years is up next, and I have to say that I am excited for 2012.

2011 had its ups and downs for me.

I lost my mom this year to pancreatic cancer, but I have realized through that loss that I am incredibly blessed in my life.

I have a husband that I love.

I have children who are healthy and happy and a job that I am crazy about.

This little blog has changed my life in multiple ways.  It has given me a creative outlet, a justification for my sugar obsession and has led me to new people who now seem like old friends.

I have started a new site where I even had enough guts to open my fridge and let the world ogle my cheese obsession.

I have gotten to go on some incredible trips…like here and here.

I have friends that are some of the best in all the land.

And have developed a slight obsession with Instagram and Pinterest.  You need both of those in your life, I can’t go down alone!

I begin 2012 with an open mind and an open heart, knowing that it could all be gone in a second.

Please remind me of all these things when I am knee deep in dirty laundry and my children are melting down, mmkay?

So thanks to all of you for reading as often as you do and especially for taking the time to leave me comments.

Even you haters out there.  Your comments always make me laugh…and laughter’s the best medicine, right?

With all that said, I want to give you a little something to sign off 2011.

Actually I want to give 3 of you a little something.

It’s from the awesome people at Smuckers.

  • A gorgeous crate filled with Smuckers premiere “Orchard’s Finest” Preserves.
  • Some spreadable knifes
  • A beautiful cheese platter from Crate and Barrel
  • And an $100 gift card from Cooking.com

Hi! I’m Shelly and I’m an addict. Of the buttercream sort. I started this site a few years ago as a way to justify my sugary, buttery obsession with desserts. It has worked out well for me so far, because as it turns out you guys all love sugary, buttery desserts too! It feels good to know you're not alone, doesn’t it?

Last year was my first resolution that I actually stuck with! Yay me! I think I will try again this year, and like most, make it a weight reduction year ! Happy New Year to all 🙂

  2. I don’t do resolutions, but I do make yearly goals. Same thing, really, but I feel like I can always be working on my goals whereas a resolution is either met or not.

As soon as my Divorce is final, I want to begin the research and development of my Baby Skincare Product….I totally want to lose some “Mommy” weight by using a mini-trampoline…..I must learn how to make bento boxes for my daughter’s lunch (at least once a week!)…..AND I NEED TO BAKE MORE! Have a blessed New Year, and thank you for all of the joy you bring us! 🙂

I’m not really a resolution type of person… I’ve tried before but just like rules, they’re pretty much meant to be broken… lol. The beginning of the year does make me think about what I’d like to do… Hopefully I will get motivated to exercise more and get healthier… but I kinda say that every year… all the time… lol.

  5. I am not a resolution person, but I do like to set some goals for myself throughout the year. I will be blogging about a reading challenge I will take on in 2012, as well as a few others 🙂

  6. Sorry about your mom! This year has had it’s ups and downs for me as well, but I’m ending this year much happier than I was last year! I am not so much a resolutions person, but I have decided not to make any sweets for January and just stick to cooking dinner…my family (or rather, my mom) will thank me!

I like to set goals for the new year. This year I have two baking goals. Become better at making breads…want to try bagels. Also, I saw these adorable Cookie Monster cookies and want to give my creativity a challenge!

  8. Tricia

Yes, I always like making New Year’s Goals. I print and post them on my bedroom wall so I can see them often. One of my goals will be to lose my baby weight once he arrives in January/February and another, to have a more positive attitude.

  9. Kristen M

I can take or leave resolutions but i do resolve to be a more patient mother with my very, very strong-willed four-year-old daughter and her mischievous sidekick, her two-year-old sister!

My resolutions aren’t exactly resolutions. I look at them as things I must accomplish and things that are certainly achievable. One. ..Start my blog on January 1. Finish my kitchen renovation. Get my cooking business established and solid. I can do all that I set my mind to and I have a New Year and a fresh start to do so!!

  11. Tammy Vazquez

I used to be a New Year’s Resolution person. Now, I work hard on myself, mentally, physically, emotionally, etc., all year long. 🙂

  12. Kathleena

I’m not normally a resolution type person, but I do have a few goals for the new year.
I would like to lose some weight, and set a date for our wedding.

  13. Domanique

I am not a resolution type girl, I like goals. And for life goals I just want to be healthy and happy. Not too shabby, I am very blessed with an amazing husband and a fabulous job. I don’t work out as much as I should but now that things are slowing down I should be able to better accomplish healthy along with better eating goals.

I’ve never really made resolutions because I seem to forget that I made them like the next day. However this last October my husband and I decided that we needed to lose weight. He has lost 40 pounds and I’ve lost 26 thus far. So I will make a resolution for the new year, and the years after that to continue to make better choices about the food I eat. I’ve got three little boys that I want to live to see have grandbabies, so giving up so many yummy foods will be worth it.

  15. Jeannie S.

I am not really a resolution person either, but I made one last year and it worked (I quit smoking!), so I figure I’ll try again this year. This year my wish is to find a job.

  16. Juliet

I am a resolution person– I need the fresh start– to turn the page and leave things to rest.
This year I will attempt to practice more patience and be a source of love and peace in my corner of the world.

  17. I dont know about the resolution thing. I have never been daring enough to make a resolution for something unattainable. For this new year I am thinking about coming up with a better baking/blogging schedule!

  18. faye

My new years resolution for 2012 is to bake more and explore the pastry arts more. Also since i am due to give birth to my son in a few weeks…to be a good mother to my firstborn cutie

  19. I’m generally not a resolution kind of gal, but this year I’m setting two goals for myself. 1) Lose weight (I know, I know, overly common). I’m training for a half marathon but I have been overweight since I had my daughter over a year ago. Time to shed the baby weight! and 2) keep our clean laundry put away. Right now my clean clothes, and my daughters, are all piled in a corner in my bedroom.

  20. Ann Marie

I like to use the new year to make a fresh start…this year I want to become more organized with meal planning by doing more freezer meals and crock pot meals. I have 2 sons who are active in sports and the evenings they have practice can be quite hectic….having meals ready to go would make things so much easier. I also want to get back to my routine of eating healthy and going to the gym.

  21. Runa Gupta

Hated that this year went by in a flash. So, next year I’m resolving to enjoy my time each and every day so as to not regret not doing anything by the end of the year.

  22. Kathleen

I make some resolutions every year; some I keep, some I don’t. This year my only resolution is to enjoy the life, the family, and the friends I have.

  23. Celina

I am Not a resolution person, but I’m going to try it for next year. I want to get fit and healthy in order to live a long healthy life with my family.

  24. I used to be but I found that by setting goals throughout the year, I was better at “gettin er done” (Texas girl through and through)
This year one of my goals is to have a photo theme for each month, take at least one photo a day and share them at the end of the year….maybe little sneak peeks throughout too.
