Sunday Chocolate Cake

This is My Grandma's Chocolate Cake!

My Gram always made this cake on Sundays, hence the name! This moist recipe is a classic, right down to the chocolate icing on top.

Simple Ingredients

You'll only need a few ingredients to make this easy recipe. Let's get started!

Mix the Dry Ingredients

First, go ahead and mix your dry ingredients together in one bowl.

Mix the Wet Ingredients

Next, mix your wet ingredients together in a seperate bowl.

Melt the Butter

Next, melt together the butter and shortening in a saucepan, then whisk in the cocoa powder.

Combine

Next, stir the cocoa mixture into your dry ingredients. Then pour the wet ingredients in and stir.

Bake

Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 baking pan, then bake for 15-20 minutes.

Make the Icing

Next, heat butter, milk, and cocoa powder together in a medium saucepan.

Add the Sugar

Next, stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Whisk it up until it’s smooth.

Frost the Cake

When your cake is out of the oven, pour the icing over it while it’s still hot in the pan. Then, allow it to cool.

Time to Serve

Slice your sheet cake and serve it up with a glass of milk! Enjoy :)
