A Texas sheet cake is traditionally baked in a rectangular baking sheet. Its shape makes it perfect for sharing!
You'll only need a few ingredients to make this easy recipe. Let's get started!
Whisk together butter, cocoa powder, and water in a saucepan. Bring it to a boil, then remove from heat.
Add the dry ingredients to a large bowl. Pour in the hot butter mixture and stir to combine.
Mix in the buttermilk, whisked eggs, and vanilla.
Pour the cake batter into a greased baking pan and bake for 20 minutes.
Again, melt butter in a saucepan, and whisk in the cocoa, milk, and vanilla.
Take the pan off the heat and stir in the powdered sugar, and pecans if you’re using them.
When your cake is hot from the oven, pour the icing on right away and spread it all over.
Cut into squares and dig in! Store airtight at room temp for up to 3 days.
