About Shelly Jaronsky

Hi! I’m Shelly. I bake a lot. Lots of cookies, but not only cookies. I don’t just like cookies, I really, truly love them. Warm, soft, crispy, gooey. You name it.

But I don’t stop at cookies. I share all kinds of cozy desserts and the kind of family dinners that actually make it to the table on a weeknight. I’ve always been drawn to food that feels familiar and comforting, the kind that makes you smile before you even take your first bite. That’s the food I cook, the food I share, and absolutely the food I want you to make and enjoy.

I started sharing recipes back in 2008, way before food blogs were a “thing.” I threw up a post or two because I wanted a place to put the food I kept making. It turns out a lot of other people wanted those recipes too. 18+ years later and I’m a full-time food blogger and a cookbook author! Life is wild, right?

I live in New Jersey with my husband. My kids are all (mostly) grown now, and I’m a brand new “Lovey” this year, which still feels a little surreal. My house is quieter than it used to be, but my kitchen is still where I spend most of my time. These days, I cook because I want to, not because I have to feed a busy household every night. But I still get plenty of chances to cook for a full house when my sons and their families come to visit. The kitchen fills right back up, the oven stays on, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Why Trust My Recipes?

I didn’t learn to cook in a fancy kitchen or from a textbook. I learned at home, right there in Grandma’s kitchen: stirring, tasting, messing up, and trying again. My love for baking began as a little girl, and even now it still feels a little magical when something comes out of the oven just right.

Everything I share is tested in my own kitchen and is something I would absolutely make again. Over the years, I’ve learned what works, what doesn’t, and what’s worth the mess. I use everyday ingredients you can find at any grocery store and kitchen tools you probably already own. I test, tweak, and re-test until something feels just right. That’s why people keep coming back. Because these are the kinds of recipes you can make again and again with reliable results. If a recipe is on this site, it’s because I truly believe in it.

My Cookbook

I published my first (and probably only) cookbook in 2016…man , that was a lot of work lol.

The Cookies & Cups Cookbook is a collection of favorite dessert recipes, go-to classics, and sweet treats readers know and love. It brings the same feel of the blog into a book you can keep on your counter and use again and again. Every recipe in the cookbook was created with home cooks in mind. I want my teenage sons to be able to follow the recipe with great results. Clear instructions, approachable ingredients, and desserts that feel familiar but special. It’s meant to be well-loved, a little messy, and made over and over.

My book came out in 2016, but is still the most reached-for cookbook in my kitchen. Appearing on the Today Show and holding a #1 slot on Amazon in Baking are definitely highlights of my career, but it’s the feedback I get from you that honestly means the most. Knowing my recipes have made their way into your home, enjoyed on occasions, celebrations, and simply day-to-day life is more rewarding to me than anything else.

I’m Glad You’re Here

If you’ve ever cooked or baked something from Cookies & Cups, thank you. It means a lot to me that people trust my recipes and bring them into their kitchens.

Make yourself comfortable, bake something you love, and don’t worry about making it perfect. If it tastes good, you did it right.

Let’s get baking (and cooking)!
