Hi! I’m Shelly.
I started this site in 2008 (!!!) as a way to justify my sugary, buttery obsession with desserts, and it has worked out well for me so far, because as it turns out you guys all love sugary, buttery desserts too! I can’t believe what started as a little cookie decorating blog has grown into a full-fledged recipe resource for millions of sweet-toothed friends across the world.
A Bit About Me
I’m from Texas, and after college I met my husband who lived in NJ at the time. I ditched my beloved Tex-Mex for Antipasto and moved to The Garden State where we’ve been ever since. We have 4 boys who love to eat. Almost all of my recipes have been taste tested and approved by them.
My love for baking began as a small girl in my Grandma’s kitchen. Beyond trial and error I have no “formal” training. I try to approach all my recipes knowing that we don’t all have a million hours to spend in the kitchen.
I’ve made numerous TV and on-air appearances, been published in magazines and online interviews, and yo-yo dieted my way through the past 16 years online. And loved every minute of it.
Now here we are in 2024, embarking on my 16th year of sharing easy, family-friendly recipes for novice and expert bakers alike. I don’t plan on slowing down, and I hope you are excited to join me. Keep the feedback, reviews, and DMs coming, your input is what keeps me doing this thing!
My Cookbook
I published my first (and probably only) cookbook in 2016…man , that was a lot of work lol.
The Cookies & Cups Cookbook has 125 tried & true recipes. From my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe to s’mores fudge bars, there’s something for everyone! There’s even a bonus section with savory recipes perfect for quick weeknight dinners. And yes, dinner ideas are after all the sweet recipes on purpose. It’s all in keeping with my motto: Always Eat Dessert First!
