Easy Slow Cooker Beef Tips

  • 3 pounds top round steak (aka London Broil) cut into 1- inch cubes
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound chopped cremini mushrooms
  • 2 (1- ounce packages) Onion Soup/Dip Mix
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 4– ounces cream cheese, cubed and room temperature
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley


  1. Liberally season the cubed steak with salt and pepper.
  2. Add the steak, onion, garlic, mushrooms, and dry onion soup mix to your slow cooker.
  3. Cook on high for 4-5 hours, or low 7-8 hours, until beef is tender.
  4. 30 minutes before you’re done cooking mix the 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water. Add this to the slow cooker, and cook for an additional 30 minutes, or until thickened.
  5. Lastly, stir in the cream cheese and stir until melted and smooth. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.


Serve over rice, pasta, or mashed potatoes.

    Hiya Sally..What a treat it was..I made this with mince instead and used a bit of Bechamel as I did not have cream cheese. Loved it to bits. Thanks for such a beautiful blog..I check it everyday…?

      Nope! The meat produces enough liquid on its own. If you are using a very lean cut of meat and it appears dry you can certainly add a cup of beef broth, but I never have!

    Made this for a dinner guest on Monday night. It was wonderfully delicious! I doubled the mushrooms because I love them and I thickened with full Fat plain Greek yogurt. It was a complete success and a keeper for me!

      Okay so I’m a terrible cook and a picky eater. ( I hate vegetables lol) this was AMAZING. Couldn’t even taste the onions or mushrooms. There is only two of us so I cut the recipe in half. Will make it with porkchops very soon. Plus it’s less than $15 to make! Thank you so much ! ?
