This past weekend my husband participated in a “race”. It involved running up mountains, climbing over walls, jumping off cliffs and crawling through mud…among other things. He came home from the race in pain. He had rope burns, abrasions, bruises, splinters, gashes and a limp.
And a smile.
I don’t understand.
So he basically hasn’t been able to move since Saturday. Apparently he plans on doing it again next year. AND he asked if I wanted to do it with him.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
I promptly introduced myself to him. Because apparently he has suffered from some brain contusion that affects his memories.
He then told me I should “think outside the box”. Mmmmkay.
I asked him under what circumstance I would ever crawl through mud, up a hill underneath barbed wire? Unless there is a Louis Vuitton waiting at the end for me, there is zero chance I would ever participate in such an activity.
I can’t even guarantee that if a crazy clown ax murderer was chasing me that I would do that. I’m pretty sure I would just lay down and play dead. That’s my “escape from a murderer tactic”, btw. Feel free to use it. I mean, chances are I won’t be able to outrun anyone, so playing dead is really the next available option.
You can pass that little nugget along.
Anyway, let’s talk about cookies.
These are pudding cookies.
Actually, they are Oreo Pudding cookies. If you don’t have Oreo pudding, just use vanilla. If you don’t have pudding at all, don’t make these cookies. Sorry.
And I also used chopped up Cookies and Cream Dove Promises. If you can’t find Dove Promises, use Hershey’s Cookies and Creme Bars. If you can’t find the Hershey’s Bars either, you could use Cookies and Creme Drops. If you don’t have any of those things, don’t make these cookies. Sorry.
Mix up your simple cookie dough, using the entire pack of dry pudding mix. Fold in your chopped candies and some extra Oreo Cookies if you’re feeling crazy!
Scoop them out onto a baking sheet, and bake them up!
Like I said, the edges are slightly crispy and the centers are soft and chewy. This is a cookie that everyone in my family agrees on!

There is something very wrong with this recipe. Way too much butter not enough flour. I added 3/4 cup flour more than suggested and my cookies were still flat and greasy. I was disappointed
That’s strange you had that result. The proportions in the recipe are actually pretty standard to most cookie recipes, and I have never had an issue! Sorry you had a bad experience!
Followed the recipe exactly and the cookies spread way too much. The dough is too sticky. Even after a blast in the freezer for 15 minutes, the cookies spread too much. I looked back at the recipe that you adapted for this one and noticed more wet ingredients with much less dry ingredients. The Plain Chicken website has a whole cup of oatmeal and only 2 tsp vanilla. I don’t think the chopped up cookies make up the difference here. BUT, they did taste good. Luckily, I only baked 3 of them to test so, I will add more flour and add some cornstarch to help the rise a little.
Can you replace the cookies and cream bars with Chico chips? I’m a young baker and my mom refuses to by me Oreos to make them
Okay, wow. I’m not a frequent baker, I came upon this recipe on Pinterest, but really had a drive to make something. These came out fantastic! My boyfriend usually avoids desserts, but he loves these!
Thanks for sharing this – I will definitely be making them again!
So glad you liked them!!
He doesn’t seem to be selling on this race idea! 🙂 These look yummy!
Loved your post!!! Really made me laugh! I am with you but then I HATE to get dirty! These cookies look like the best post race cure!
OMG. These look Awesome.
You just killed my diet. I would have to participate in your so called husbands ‘race’ for sure if I where to eat a handful of these. I’ll make them small; less calories that way :}
I may be in my mid 60’s but that race sounds like loads of fun. Growing up on a farm I had done most of it waaaaaay back then
These look Divine! I am in oreo freak! LOL! How many cookies and cream bars is equivalent to 2 cups?
I was just going to post this question!
I would say about 4 🙂
Sounds like he needs to be on American Ninja Warrior!
Your humor is amazing and your recipes are even better. My husband wanted me to do tough mudder. No way.
