These delicious Dulce de Leche Snack Squares are soft, sweet, studded with chocolate chips and coated in powdered sugar! What’s not to love about these chewy cookie bars?
Dulce de Leche Snack Recipe
Ok, these bars are a dream. And full disclosure the original recipe from Gooseberry Patch calls them “Man Bars”. How hilarious is that? I’ve seen that recipe floating around on Pinterest for a while now, and I knew I had to make them to see what all they hype was about!
They lived up for sure.
Apparently they’re originally called “Man Bars” because they are so easy to make…but since we live in a world where everyone is equal and trophies for all I thought that name was kinda not cool. So I renamed them the super generic, totally not viral name of “Dulce de Leche Snack Squares”.
Boring name or not these beauties are pretty fab. AND you can get super creative too. Add in some coconut, nuts, M&M’S, peanut butter…seriously get creative. And no mixer necessary!
How to Make Dulce de Leche Snack Squares
Honestly they are so easy.
Just dump everything into a big bowl…
Then drizzle on your sweetened condensed milk. Love love love that stuff.
Then get the good stuff out. Yep I’m talking a gorgeous can of dulce de leche.
Now if you’re an alien and don’t like dulce de leche you can use another can of sweetened condensed milk or a nice jar of thick caramel sauce. I’m talking ice cream topping that is so thick it needs to be microwaved…not the drippy squeezable caramel.
Mix it all up!
Then press it into a prepared 9×13.
Bake that up for about 30 minutes. Then you have to be patient young grasshopper and let them cool. Completely.
Then cut them into square-ish-bar shapes, shake them in a healthy dose of powdered sugar…
And yeahhhhhh….
You should probably give them a try at this point.
And then you should definitely share these with everyone you know.
Or maybe hoard them all for yourself and never tell a soul of their existence.
Just be sure to wipe the powdered sugar off your nose.

My grandma used to make something similar, minus the oats and the dulce de leche. They were to die for. Wish I could try this version but I can’t have dairy anymore. Every once in a great while I mix up a vegan version of sw cond milk and make grandma’s but not sure what to use for the dulce…
I have an extra can in my pantry…..know what I’m doing with it soon. Thanks Shelly, love your website and all your recipes. Can’t wait for the new cookbook.
Yum! I haven’t seen these before! I don’t think I eat enough dulce de leche 🙂
So it’s possible to just use a second can of condensed milk? Not an alien and I really like dulce de leche, but I’m not sure that I find it ready-made here in Belgium… 😉 Thanks a lot! 🙂 They look amazing!!
Yes, absolutely!!
Thank you! 🙂
Hi, you can make dulce de leche by cooking it in a pot with water covering the can completely for 3 hrs or in a pressure cooker for 45 mins. Just make sure the can is completely cool before opening it (6 – 8 hrs) at least. Hope this helps.
You can turn sweetened condensed milk into “dulce de leche”.

Hi, I don’t live in the US and don’t actually know what exactly are Graham cracker crumbs! Can you just substitute normal plain cookie crumbs? Thanks 🙂
Try crush digestive biscuits if you’re in the UK.
Can you tell me about how much the crushed graham crackers measure out? If I buy the gram cracker crumbs, I wonder how much I should use? Thanks!
About 3 1/2 cups
THANKS! Can’t wait to try these!
These are probably SO sweet and so bad for you…but they look and sound so delicious. I am thinking maybe adding in some coconut and walnuts and dusting with graham cracker crumbs instead of powdered sugar for a 7 layer bar like copycat.
You’re name is much better! These look so ahmazing! My tummy is rumbling for them!
I can imagine how sweet they are! Omg! I want them! :))
Bake 25-50 mins?
Or 25-30 mins?
25-30! Sorry about the typo!
