Forget Take Out: Pork Ramen Is An Easy Asian-Inspired Weeknight Dinner Idea!

Coming up with ideas for dinner that everyone in the house will enjoy is sometimes a job within itself. It’s easy to get in a rut and make the same things over and over…I get it…I live it.

So if you’re looking for an easy dinner that I am pretty confident saying will be a hit with even the pickiest eaters in your house, I’ve got the one for you.

This Easy Pork Ramen Noodle Dish is made in under 30 minutes and can be adapted in all sorts of ways:

  • Make it with any protein you prefer. Don’t get stuck on using pork tenderloin…you can use chicken, beef, or shrimp with great results!
  • Go veggie! This is an easy recipe to make vegetarian. Simply leave out the meat altogether adding in vegetables in its place, like broccoli, cauliflower, snap peas, or a mix of whatever you like! Or you could use tofu if that’s your thing!
  • Play with the sauce…like it more spicy, less, spicy, sweeter, not as sweet? Play around with the base recipe I provide and get creative!

Easy adaptable dinners are on rotation around here. And since I can make so many variations of this base recipe, no one seems to get tired of it.

PRO TIP: Make the sauce ahead and store it in the fridge so it’s ready whenever you need it. This will make the process even quicker, or make it easy for your kids to make it on their own, with or without the pork!

If You Don’t Have Ramen Noodles, No Problem!

You can always swap out the ramen for another type of noodle:

  • Vermicelli
  • Spaghetti

  • Rice Noodles

How To Make Pork Ramen

Throw Out Those Packaged Flavor Packets and Make Your Own Sauce!

My boys love ramen noodles, and I do buy them for them to make after school as a snack, but the little flavor packets they come with are really lacking. The great thing about the sauce that I make for these noodle bowls is that it can be adapted to fit your taste perfectly (although I think the base recipe is pretty great!) Here are some ways to change up the sauce flavors:

  • Nut allergy? Leave out the sesame oil and peanut butter. You can add Sunbutter if you would like, but you don’t have to!
  • Like spice? Add more chili paste, or add in lots of crushed red pepper flakes!
  • Replace the honey with brown sugar for a slightly more sweet vibe!
  • Replace the hoisin sauce with teriyaki, BBQ, or oyster sauce!

Garnish Ideas:

These bowls are even better when you add toppers! Here are a few of my favorite add-ons:

  • Chopped peanuts
  • Cilantro
  • Lime
  • More chili paste!!
  • Crunchy Fried Onions (Like Frenchs)
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning
  • Pickled Ginger

Description

This easy ramen noodle dish throws away the flavor packet! Slice up lean pork tenderloin and whip up a quick homemade sauce for a flavor-packed dinner!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons chili paste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 pounds pork tenderloin, sliced thinly
  • 4 (3- ounce) packages ramen noodles (flavor packets discarded)

Optional Garnishes

  • chopped cilantro
  • chopped green onion
  • chopped peanuts
  • lime wedges
  • more chili paste

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl whisk together the soy sauce, water, sesame oil, canola oil, honey, hoisin sauce, peanut butter, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and chili paste until smooth. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet heat the 2 tablespoons olive oil over medium-high heat. Place the pork in the hot skillet to brown stirring frequently. Cook until the liquids in the pan evaporate, and the pork is cooked through.
  3. Turn the heat off and add in the prepared sauce, stirring to coat the pork. Leave the pan on the warm burner.
  4. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the ramen for 3 minutes, or until tender. Drain and add the cooked noodles to the skillet. Toss the noodles with the pork and sauce to coat.
  5. Serve immediately with any, all or none of the garnishes listed.

  1. This looks absolutely amazing delicious. My question is. You mentioned that a person can substitute the pork for either chicken or beef. Now, are you talking about chicken breast cut up or ground chicken? For the beef. What kind of beef are you talking about? Roast. Thinly sliced or ground beef? Please clarify. TIA.

  2. With all these ingredients I thought this was going to be a flavor bomb. But, I am sorry to say it was one note taste.

  3. Good recipe. I used only half the sauce because it was only two of us. Saved the other half in the frig. Looking for an alternate recipe suggestion so I don’t waste the reserved half. Thanks.
