Oreo Pudding Cookies

This past weekend my husband participated in a “race”. It involved running up mountains, climbing over walls, jumping off cliffs and crawling through mud…among other things. He came home from the race in pain.  He had rope burns, abrasions, bruises, splinters, gashes and a limp.

And a smile.

I don’t understand.

So he basically hasn’t been able to move since Saturday. Apparently he plans on doing it again next year. AND he asked if I wanted to do it with him.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I promptly introduced myself to him.  Because apparently he has suffered from some brain contusion that affects his memories.

He then told me I should “think outside the box”. Mmmmkay.

I asked him under what circumstance I would ever crawl through mud, up a hill underneath barbed wire?  Unless there is a Louis Vuitton waiting at the end for me, there is zero chance I would ever participate in such an activity.

I can’t even guarantee that if a crazy clown ax murderer was chasing me that I would do that.  I’m pretty sure I would just lay down and play dead.  That’s my “escape from a murderer tactic”, btw.  Feel free to use it.  I mean, chances are I won’t be able to outrun anyone, so playing dead is really the next available option.

You can pass that little nugget along.

Anyway, let’s talk about cookies.

How to Make Oreo Pudding Cookies

These are pudding cookies.

Actually, they are Oreo Pudding cookies.  If you don’t have Oreo pudding, just use vanilla.  If you don’t have pudding at all, don’t make these cookies.  Sorry.

A box of Jello Oreo cookies 'n creme pudding mixAnd I also used chopped up Cookies and Cream Dove Promises.  If you can’t find Dove Promises, use Hershey’s Cookies and Creme Bars.  If you can’t find the Hershey’s Bars either, you could use Cookies and Creme Drops.  If you don’t have any of those things, don’t make these cookies.  Sorry.

Chopped cookies 'n creme candy on a cutting board

Mix up your simple cookie dough, using the entire pack of dry pudding mix.  Fold in your chopped candies and some extra Oreo Cookies if you’re feeling crazy!

Scoop them out onto a baking sheet, and bake them up!

Oreo Pudding Cookies are a family favorite! They are crispy at the edge, but adding pudding mix directly into the batter keeps them soft and chewy in the center!

Like I said, the edges are slightly crispy and the centers are soft and chewy. This is a cookie that everyone in my family agrees on!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 pkg (4.2 oz) Oreo pudding/pie filling mix
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment mix together butter and both sugars on medium speed for 2 minutes. Add in the dry pudding mix and mix for an additional 30 seconds, scraping the sides of the bowl as necessary. Add in eggs and vanilla and mix until combined. Turn mixer to low and slowly add in baking soda, salt and flour until combined.
  3. Stir in chopped candy and cookies.
  4. Using a large (3 tablespoon sized cookie scoop) drop the dough onto baking sheet and bake for 9-10 minutes. Let cool on baking sheet for 3 minutes before transferring to wire rack to cool completely.

  1. Oh Warrior Dashes. I have so many quality pictures of my Marine after coming home from those. I, too, reward myself for putting up with his shenanigans with oreo pudding cookies. Although, because I have a problem, I add more crushed up double-stuff oreos (like eight) and some chopped up dark chocolate (to balance out the creamy cream-ness) and freeze them in golf balls before baking them. Result–oreo pudding cookies on crack: just under-baked in the center and exploding with deliciousness. Mmmm. I’m gonna go bust out a few from the freezer now. And eat them with a cinnamon roll or two.

  2. Hey there,

We really are going to have to meet one day. My husband is into all of that stuff too. This weekend he is hiking part of the Appalachian Trail for 3 days and when he gets back,he will be all kinds of sore!!

And me? this weekend I will be baking these cookies with my boys!!

    Thanks for sharing as always.

  3. Hi, I completed a Spartan Race in August in Massachusetts. It was a blast! I have signed up for next year and for one in November at Fenway. I wanted something to train for and really was looking for something fun. Spartan definitely fit the bill!
Oh and the cookies look super! Hope to make them soon for the kiddos.

The word “pudding” in the title was a little odd to me, but you’ve convinced me – I’m completely on board! These cookies look really good and I love that they have cookies and cream chocolate chopped up and mixed in (those Hershey cookies & creme bars used to be one of my favs 🙂

PS – I totally did one of those races earlier this yeat – and yep it’s crazy (but kinda fun!)

Ok, I have to make these now. My brother was obsessed with the Hershey’s Cookies and Creme Bars and know I can put them in a cookie. Plus it’s like double Oreo goodness!

  6. I will never understand men. I will always understand cookies. These are gorgeous and I love that lead photo SO much!

  7. Pudding cookies are my all time favorite right now…so chewy and delicious. Cookies with pudding, oreo, and candy bars…down right awesome!!! So, I have to admit something…I did a Tough Mudder last fall. I was actually dreading it and thought I would probably die!! But it was actually one of the most fun things I have ever done. Crazy I know:-)

These are redonkulous. Did I just say that? Ugh. It’s because I need a cookie or five, okay? Also: races. Cannot. Do. It. I see all the women on Instagram posting pictures of their red faces for the 5k race and I’m like, “here’s a picture of me eating some cookies” or “while you’re running, I was sitting on the couch reading Us Weekly.” It’s bad for my ego, okay? Running is just not right.
