Sweet & Salty Snack Bars
I know, I know…these bars have a very unfortunate name. I get it. But it’s really just the perfect way to describe the salty/sweet/chocolatey/buttery perfection we have going on here.
By calling them PMS bars, you know you’re getting something to cure even the worst hangry. Because honestly there is something about the situation we have going on here that gives me happy vibes. You have all my favorite food groups all in one place: Pretzels, M&Ms, sweetened condensed milk, peanut butter and graham crackers. See? All of ’em.
Plus, we know PMS isn’t just for the ladies anymore…amiright? Like for SURE my husband gets a little of it. Like what in the world is THAT all about?
Last week I asked him maybe turn the TV down from volume 100 so I could hear the fire alarm go off, you know just in case, and you would have thought I asked him to unload the dishwasher or something.
Like daggers. Out of his eyes.
And also can we just talk about the TV volume for a quick second? Do all men have to watch it that loud or is it just a thing in my house. My husband LEGIT starts turning up the volume on movies as the opening credits are starting. I’m like NO ONE IS EVEN TALKING YET STOP TURNING IT UPPPPPPPPPPPP!
The last movie we watched I swear to Pete that he started turning up the volume when there were SUBTITLES on the screen! I’m like no matter how loud they speak in Spanish you will STILL NOT UNDERSTAND IT.
Soooo…wait, maybe I AM actually the one with PMS here. What just happened?
How to Make PMS Bars
Anyhow back to the bars. They are simple dimple. Just a quick graham cracker crust…
Then pour on some sweetened condensed milk…
Top that with whatever chip medley is your fave.
I’ve got semi-sweet, peanut butter and M&Ms.
All over…
Then Pretzels.
Also, I used these cute little Mini Pretzel Thins I found at the store and they worked perfect. And no, they aren’t paying me to say that.
Just press them into the whole situation…
And bake it for like 25 minutes or so…
Let them cool completely before trying to cut them. Trust me on this.
I even like to chill them a bit so the slices come out extra perfect.
And that’s it.
Make ’em. Love ’em.

So, I accidentally married the Fahrenheit and Celsiius temps and cooked em at 375F. Still yummy! My 10 year old son came home from school and devoured half the pan and says “what are these called? Make them again please!?” So, before I could answer he chimed in and said…”let’s call them dumpster brownies. ” I replied….close enough.
hhahaha! so funny!
My poor DH just tried to come between me and a HUGE bowl of ice cream with peanut butter and homemade hot fudge. I informed him that he was taking his life in his hands when I am PMSing. But, these? These are my love language and he can start speaking it starting today.
My hubs is PMS-ing RIGHT. NOW. Like, has been for two days or maybe even on and off for two months. IDK. Maybe I need to make these for him so he will chill the hell out!
(As for the volume – he isn’t too bad about that unless its baseball and then it’s NEVER loud enough.)
You continue to blow our minds with each recipe you create! I cannot wait for your cookbook to release – I’m going to be the first in line! All I can say is…You Rock Shelly! xo
Thank you so so much!!
OMG… I thought the TV volume was specific to my household! Why, why, WHYYYYYYY does it have to be so loud??? Maybe women have more sensitive ears???
I am going to try these. I love the little pretzel thins. Thank you. I love your blog it is one of my favorites..by far!
You know what’s worse then loud TV volume during a movie? My teenage son playing his Playstation games turned way up. One day I kept hearing sirens. (Well I say a quick prayer whenever I hear one). I mentioned that there sure must be something going on in town today. Theo starts laughing and tells me it was the cops chasing him on his game… lol
ha! I make my kids wear headsets for the games! one time my kiddo was playing with one of his friends and I swear I thought a MAN was in our house! I got so freaked out!
Bahaha! I LOVE that you named these PMS bars, they look fab Shelly 🙂
I will raise you loud televisions and throw in loud music at the same time. Like, my husband turns up the TV to hear it over the music and then he decides he’d rather hear the music and so he turns that up and it just goes on and on in this endless cycle until I finally kick him in the shins. I can’t even.
These bars would help though. Sure of it.
I think we all have those moments with the husbands! These look fantastic!
Hi Shelly, thanks a lot for sharing this wonderful recipe. It is so easy to make. My children just loved this. Keep sharing such recipes.
