Frosting Grahams

I’m back!

I have so much to share I don’t know where to begin…but can I say I missed you.
Like, really missed you.
You remember me, right?
I had a dream that you guys were all like “cookies and cups” who?
“We like Callye, Amy, Kristan, Glory, Robyn and Leslie now.”
And I cried.
I need constant reassuring.
So, please remember me.
Because I traveled a long way to come back…miles and miles across the country just so I could be here.
For you.
I am nothing if not dramatic.
Let’s proceed.
We vacationed in Naples, Florida with a bunch of friends.  There were 20 of us in all..and we had a blast!
We shared our time between the pool and the beach, which was great because while I love the IDEA of the beach, I think I am a pool girl.
The beach is a ton of work…and all that sand.  It stays with you for days.
And there are critters in the ocean that might possibly kill you or sting you or at the very least swim around your feet.
I know the ocean is their digs, but I just want to be an easy guest in their home…no need to acknowledge my presence little fish. I know you’re there, you know I’m there…we needn’t say hello.
And the undercurrent.  The ocean is constantly trying to suck you in…as if there isn’t enough life in the sea, that it needs me too.  Back off ocean.
Plus, I saw that episode of Friends where Chandler had to pee on Monica after she got stung by a jellyfish.
While I love MY friends, there should never be pee involved.
It’s rule of mine.
And the beach…ok, let’s go there…you see some things.
Things that can’t be unseen.
Perfectly respectful people in real life decide to make all sort of strange decisions once they hit the the sand.
Very odd fashion choices, if you will.
Why is it ok for some to wear Speedos or inappropriate thongs?  WHY?
You would never walk down the street in a thong and a bra.  Why in the world would you do it on the beach?
I understand it’s hot…but the pavement offers no ocean breeze, so I think it’s safe to say that there is no excuse.
And I will say that the folks who should be wearing the most clothes, often wear the least.
I am sure some of you say, “more power to them!”
But what about ME?!
My eyes have feelings too.
So yeah, beach is good once in a while, but I like my unnaturally blue chlorinated water.
The kind of pool where there is a snack bar close in case you need food or a margarita soda.
A pool where you don’t have to bring chairs or umbrellas or coolers.
I’m lazy, I get it.
And because I am so lazy I like treats like these Frosting Grahams
They are delicious and only take 2 ingredients:
Frosting and graham crackers.
Use my recipe for buttercream and you will have a happy tummy!
I took the idea for these from my girlfriend who always makes them for her kids..she is a smart girl!
I like eating them cold, because the frosting doesn’t squish out the sides…but we have had them frozen and they are really yummy too! Thanks for making all my guest posters feel welcome while I was gone.
You guys are the best!

One of my friends taught me this yummy treat but used whipped cream instead of frosting. Then, you put them in the freezer and they are a nice, refreshing, frozen treat!

Welcome back! I hope your trip was wonderful. :)

Can we talk about how much I love these? I am so in support of anything that allows me to eat as much frosting as possible in a socially acceptable way. :)

Love this & I agree! Eating frosting in a totally socially accepted way. I’m in that group!!

Welcome back! I love any excuse to eat frosting:-)

July 13, 2011 1:26 am

I love these with chocolate frosting. Mmmmmm…

I'm a Floridian – I know where you come from! I, too, like blue, chlorinated water.

If you want to see interesting – go to a Florida beach! In California, they're all hard bodies in bikinis. In Florida, they're a melting pot full of people without a care in the (fashion) world! Appropriate is not a part of their lingo!

Beautiful treats…

So glad you're back – you were missed!

Does any guy ever look good in a speedo? Doubtful. Who lets them out of the house like that?

I missed you oodles. And oodles. And oodles.

And I'll take any excuse to make and eat buttercream with reckless abandon. Love these.

Welcome back! These look yum and easy.
The beach is great in theory. But like you, the last several times I've gone I've ended up in the pool. I have a pool in my neighborhood! Oh well, the view FROM the pool to the ocean is nice. Hope you enjoyed.

Nothing is better than leftover frosting and graham crackers. YUM! It reminds me of preschool!

July 13, 2011 2:06 am

We've made these for years…whenever my mom had extra frosting we made these cookies. Now I make them for my kids. –Niki

Welcome back! Glad you had a fun vacation! We love graham crackers and frosting…I often catch my husband using my leftover royal icing on graham crackers…although I much prefer buttercream. Great idea to have them cold! :)

July 13, 2011 2:34 am

These look so pretty! Love the ocean/pool colors!
Glad you're back. We could never forget you:)

I'm a Florida girl & I was "back home" last week for a visit. This post was hilarious, especially the fashion commentary. As for your sweet treat, yum… but honey, slap some buttercream on it and I'll eat a shoe.

Welcome back!!! I am glad that you are back and LOVE graham crackers and frosting. I like chocolate more, but the colors might persuade me to try vanilla.

Glad you had a good time hanging out with your friends. I just want to give you a big hug for these frosting grahams, seriously, you have no idea how addicted I am to frosting and yet I've never thought to eat it this way!

How pretty these are!Welcome back!

A-to tha-men on chlorinated water vs ocean. There is nothing in my crystal clear pool water that swallow me whole!

July 13, 2011 2:06 pm

Love them with frosting, but recently have discovered nutella and graham crackers. Down side, I don't have to make anything so I eat more, but then again, that is an upside.

We just got a pool in our backyard a few days ago and while I was raised in So Cal I sure dp appreciate a nice pool where you don't have to wonder what you are swiming with! Glad to have you back!!

July 13, 2011 9:19 pm

Welcome back! We have made frosting grahams for years. It's one of the few times I'm okay with using canned frosting – though I do like them better with buttercream.

Have never tried them frozen – yum!

When I was growing up in the 70's, all the kids on my block would swim at the neighbors pool and the mom would always come out and serve us these awesome graham cracker treats, she always gave us cold milk served in those colored aluminum cups. I've been making them ever since. Your frosting layer is triple the size, I'm guessing due to your love of buttercream! LOL

July 14, 2011 2:20 am

I used to love coming home from school to find that Mom had made these for us. They are simple but SO good! Welcome back too!

July 14, 2011 2:29 am

I have been a lurker for way too long, I thought I better actually check in and let you know that you were missed while on holidays. I check out your blog several times a week and have tried lots of your recipes. thanks so much for keeping it real and bringing such awesome goodness for our hungry tummies.

This brings back memories! My mom used to make these all the time when I was a kid.

July 16, 2011 12:39 am

My Mom's version never had these colors! We used what ever frosting was left from cookies at Christmas and birthday cakes. They kept us kids out of the goodies. Thanks for sharing these!

July 16, 2011 8:38 pm

These are so pretty and they look so easy too. I love the idea of eating them out of the freezer on these hot summer days!!
