churro bars stacked with a bite taken out

There are few things in this world I have a hard time resisting. And a warm churro is one of them. Good churros are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, coated in a heavy dusting of cinnamon sugar.

Trust me, I’ve had a sub-par churro and it’s NOT OKAY. But a churro done right? Heck yeah!!

BUTTTT since, I’m not living that deep fry life, I decided to turn my favorite Disney treat into a BAR COOKIE. I’m going out on a limb and say that I’m pretty genius.

Since churros are deep fried, I browned the butter to try and mimic the extra bit of flavor the frying adds. Plus, we all know browned butter is better butter.

And since you’re using melted butter, you don’t need to use a stand (or hand) mixer for this recipe. WIN!

The dough is pretty dreamy.

And you just press it into a prepared pan and sprinkle the heck out of it with cinnamon sugar.

The you bake it.

I am OBSESSED with these bars. When they’re cooled, they cut like a dream. They’re perfectly chewy and packed with flavor!

  1. Hi, i d like to hace the recipe but appears me an error message, can you help me please? Thank you very much

    1. The link should be working now. I know the Imperial Site was having some serve issues, but hopefully they’re all fixed!

  2. Are you using a glass baking dish or metal baking pan. You make reference to a “dish” and then later to a “pan”. Thank you.

    1. It just makes removal of the bars from the pan easier. You cold make them without, just make sure to grease the pan!

I made these for church today and they were an absolute hit. They have the same thick chewy texture as snickerdoodles, with considerably less work. Even better, these can be done within an hour! What a winner!

  4. I made these and they were amazing! I shared them with friends and am now sending them the link to the recipe!

  5. Just made these and they are delicious. Browning butter leads to yummyness! If that is a word…
I have had churros in Spain, they are a totally different pastry that gets fried.

  6. I have a similar recipe that I love. To kick these up a notch, add some cream cheese frosting and then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Amazing!
