Puppy Chow Rice Krispie Treats
Here I am, almost going on a full week with my kitchen in shambles. It is still “technically” operable, but who wants to cook in a construction zone…
I mean, I could possibly get the vanilla confused with battery acid or something and poison my whole family and die without ever seeing my new cabinets.
Well, I guess my husband isn’t officially using battery acid for any aspect of the remodel, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Also, speaking of my husband, remember back when we talked about his carpenter jeans? Well, I guess he got embarrassed that I made fun of them. So you wanna know what he went and did?
If you’re gonna say he went to Macy’s and bought some brand new denim, well, you’d be wrong. He didn’t even go to Kohls.
What he DID do, however, was repurpose said carpenter jeans without my prior knowledge or approval.
Let’s take a gander as he empties out our pantry…
So there you see, folks…he has just done the impossible. He took an already bad fashion choice and made it worse by leaps and bounds.
Not only are denim shorts bad, but they are cut-off, carpenter jean, denim shorts.
Lord, please. Let this kitchen be done soon, so I can dispose of these shorts and never ever think of my husband in this way again. Ever.
Oh yeah, and to also have my oven back.
The end.
Now, let’s talk about important stuff…
Puppy Chow Krispie Treats.
Puppy Chow is a delicious snack mix that a neighbor of mine makes for parties. Some people call them Muddy Buddies. Whatever you call it, it’s Rice Chex cereal coated in chocolate and peanut butter and dusted in powdered sugar.
I took the same idea and turned it into a Krispie.
I was going to use Chex instead of Rice Krispies but when I told my son what I was doing, he strongly disagreed. He told me that Chex in a krispie bar is no good and if bitten at the wrong angle you could basically stab the inside of your mouth.
Well then.
I certainly don’t want any mouth stabbing incidents on my conscience, so I took his advice and went with Rice Krispies.
It worked out well.
How to Make The Best Rice Krispie Treats
All you have to do is melt some chocolate…
Then stir in some peanut butter…
Then add your cereal…
And I added in some whole marshmallows for added measure. I mean, isn’t the defining characteristic of a kripie treat the marshmallows? Ok, maybe it’s the krispies, but marshmallows are a definite second.
After I spread that into the pan I gave it a good healthy dose of powdered sugar.
For prosperity.
Then I ate.
About 15.
I have no self control.

I’m so dying over these…why can’t we be neighbors? I need these in my life stat!
“Jorts” are never a good look on a man…! And Shelly… you combined two of my favorite simple loves in life with today’s RKTs. 🙂 Puppy chow ANYHTING is a guaranteed addicting treat. That gorgeous thick dusting of powdered sugar is the best part!
Your son is very wise. Can’t have a treat stabbing us in the mouth now, can we?
Your husband–he’s working and creating a dream for you–who cares what he wears? 🙂 Wouldn’t you rather he get paint and battery acid on the cut up carpenter jeans that can be thrown AWAY after than something else he’d try to wear again?
Your plate is GORGEOUS! Love it–pier one or somewhere else?
Now to the treats-OMG-must try these. Your desserts are all amazing. Going to make the skillet chocolate chip cookie this weekend. I’ve been promising my daughters to make it since you posted it.
Thanks as always! Sandra in NM
My husband says that you are a very wise woman 🙂
Why do men try to wear shorts that far above the knee. It’s just awkward when they sit down. Even more awkward if it’s on a 3 hour plane ride and your stuck next to them. O.o….. But the treats look awesome!
I have a weakness for puppy chow. These are like a fancy step up!
Love these! And the things our husbands wear. Josh always surprises me and not in a good way:)
I love puppy chow AND RKTreats. This is a perfect marriage! And I love the bright white marshmallows hiding within that dark chocolate….mmmm, so good!
The sugar looks like snow on top. Gotta pin these to do something cute for the holidays… Hhmmm… Wheels turning 🙂 Love the pic with the powdered sugar coming out of the sifter. Ive never had much success trying to get that shot! Do you have a good sifter you recommend? Mine is a workout!
You’re killing me! These look awesome! Pinned!
Anything with peanut butter and chocolate is alright by me (you can skip the marshmellows – I’m one of the odd ducks out when it comes to those. Looks delish!
