Avalanche Bars Are Easy No Bake Bars!

Avalanche Bars are one of my favorite and most popular treats here on my website. I made them back in 2010, not too long after I started this website, and they quickly became one of the most loved recipes on Cookies and Cups! I even made an Avalanche Cookie a few years back that was equally as loved. I have updated the pictures so they are a little more pretty, but equally as delicious!

White Chocolate and Peanut Butter Are a Delicious Combination!

Avalanche Bars are this deliciously addictive treat was introduced to me at a place called The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.  Ever been there?  They have shelves and shelves of delicious looking candy apples and homemade fudge that I would always be THIS close to buying…but being a bit of a cheapskate I always went for one of the least expensive thing there…the Avalanche Bar.

At like, $3.50 it was still overpriced, but oh so worth it.  A strange but wonderful combination of white chocolate, peanut butter and marshmallow it is like rice krispie treat on steroids!

Clearly I knew I needed to learn to make these at home… and it turns out they are easy peasy!

AND I made a quick little video to show you JUST how easy…

I make these ALL the time, and I am sure you will too! They are an easy, classic treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz bag of White Chocolate Chips
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 cups Rice Krispies
  • 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips + 2 Tbsp for garnish.
  • Lightly grease a 9×9 pan

  4. Add the marshmallows and the mini chocolate chips and stir to combine.
  5. Pour mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly, pressing lightly with the back of your spoon, but do not compact too much, otherwise they will get hard.

  1. these look SOOO good!!! I planned to make them for a church event tonight but forgot the white chocolate when I was shopping yesterday. my solution: substitute milk chocolate for the melted white chocolate, use the crunchy pb I already had in the fridge, and instead of stirring in mini chocolate chips, use part of a white chocolate bar (chopped). Tastes great but doesn’t look quite as fancy

  2. Love these babies! Had to hide the remaining row. It makes more sense for my family of “Hoovers” to double this, which I did. Gave some away, too. I am going to do a post on my blog about these among other too-easy-to-consume treats. Thanks for the de-lish recipe!

Thank you for your article (and please excuse me, English is not my mother tongue), do you write a second part to cover the subject entirety? In all cases, it’s a topical issue that will have to be treated in this way more often. Regards, Roger .

  4. I was looking for a good recipe and I found yours. The name first made me dream, then I made ??it following your advice. I cut my bar to break at 10am, this is a treat! Thank you.

  5. My daughter helped me make these over the weekend…they were fantastic and loved by the whole family!

  6. I just made these and they are good, but super sweet, too sweet for me. That said, my boyfriend is going to love them. I didn’t use the marshmallows, since I didn’t have any, so there was no fluff to them, just chocolate, chocolate. 🙂

  7. lol I died laughing reading the beginning of this! I’m a Georgia girl and guess where my husband in from? Upstate New York. Do you have any idea what lake effect snow is? Neither did I! Turns out, i hate snow. Hate lake-effect snow even more! So now we are back in Georgia. 🙂
And OMG do those avalanche bars look delicious! Rice Krispy treats are my absolute favorite treat of all time and to add white chocolate? mmmmmmmm

  8. As a born and raised Jersey girl, I need to remind you that at least now you don’t have to pump your own gas! And I loved the RMCF, but I don”t know where one is (if they even exist anymore).

  9. I think I have made these seven times already. They are beyond delish! I messed up once and did not use enough chocolate…however the crumbly result was a great ice cream topper. I currently have a batch cooling with some crushed Oreos in the mix. I love how easy and kid friendly they are. My kins (4,3, and 1) can all help make these all the while holding my newborn. So much better than boring rice krispie treats! Anyway, thanks for such a great post!
