Ingredients / What You Will Need

Make sure to scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of the post for the full recipe with the ingredients and instructions!

  • Butter. I use salted butter in this recipe because that’s my personal preference, but you can absolutely use unsalted butter if you prefer. No need to increase any additional salt.
  • Sugars: I use a combination of both light brown sugar and granulated sugar in this cookie recipe.
  • Egg: This recipe calls for 1 whole large egg AND an additional egg yolk. Save that extra white for an omelette!
  • Vanilla extract. You can also ise vanilla bean paste.
  • Dry Ingredients: Kosher salt, baking soda, and all purpose flour
  • Kit Kat Candy. You’re going to chop up the Kit Kat bars and mix them right into the cookie dough. I like to chop up some extras to press into the cookies when they’re baked to give them that bakery look!
  • Melted chocolate. The unique thing about this recipe is you swirl melted chocolate right into the cookie dough which gives it a marbled look. Just make sure not to over-mix it when you add the chocolate or you won’t get those pretty ribbons throughout! You can use either milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate. I prefer semi-sweet as it adds more flavor!

How To Make Kit Kat Cookies

The idea behind this thick, soft cookie recipe is that the base would be a buttery cookie dough, a lot like a chocolate chip cookie, with melted chocolate swirled all through the dough!

  • Start by making the cookie dough. This is a fairly straight-forward cookie recipe that requires you to use a stand mixer or a hand-held electric mixer.
  • Swirl in the melted chocolate: Simply melt some chocolate chips, or chopped chocolate in the microwave or on the stove top and drizzle that into the cookie dough.
  • Using the handle of a wooden spoon swirl the chocolate into the dough create ribbons of chocoalte throughout. Try not to over-mix it because you really want to see the swirls!
  • Use a large cookie scoop to drop the dough onto a parchment lined baking sheet, allowing them room to spread as they bake.
  • Once they’re baked you can press any extra chopped Kit Kats into the tops to look pretty and give a little crunch!
