The Perfect Valentine’s Day Dessert

So Valentines Day is coming up.

We aren’t big Valentines people in our house.

Not that I don’t WANT Valentines stuff.

I mean, if my husband came home with flowers and chocolates and jewelry I certainly wouldn’t turn him away.

But the thing is, one of our kids has a birthday on Valentines, so I lose.

Valentines is now, “all about the children”…much like EVERY OTHER DAY OF MY LIFE!

So instead of romance, I get Star Wars Lego assembly and video games and instead of a candlelit dinner, I get kid’s choice, which many years has meant McDonalds.

I mean, can you imagine that they can choose any place to eat dinner and they choose McDonalds?

So, yeah, kids ruin everything.  Gah.

A Super Easy Strawberry Fudge Recipe

Moving forward,  remember a few months ago when I was all angry at the universe for keeping fudge secrets from me?

Well, the universe and I are officially BFFs again.

We made up.

Hugged, kissed and all that…

Together we made some fudge, some Strawberry Fudge.

Which would be perfect for giving to your sweet Valentine…I mean, if you are one of those couple’s who actually celebrates Valentines.

How to Make 2 Ingredient Strawberry Fudge:

All you do is get yourself a can of Strawberry Frosting and a bag of white chocolate chips.

Melt the chips and stir in the frosting.

Spread it into a lightly greased or lined pan…

Make some pretty designs if you’re feeling fancy.

Now, if you want to get crazy, sprinkles some cute little hearts on top.  I think M&Ms would be good on top too…you know, chocolate and strawberries I hear is pretty romantic.

Pop it in the fridge for a bit and then cut it into squares.

Or hearts.

Or broken hearts if you’re feeling dramatic.

* Tip ~ use a cookie cutter for easier shape making.

Isn’t it pretty?

  1. Just a thought, Valentine’s doesn’t have to be Feb 14th.
Make it Feb 11th or Feb 20th…A Celebration of couplehood doesn’t have to be on the date as long as you both take the time to celebrate what brought the kids to the world in the first place 🙂 Unfortunately If we don’t say anything, Men will ignore anything they can get away with ignoring. Make it a point. Have Mc Donalds but then have a midnight picnic of Strawberries and bubbly in the living room after they go to bed. …Just a thought 😉

By the way.. The Fudge…GENIUS !!!! I added dried Strawberries to it Wow!!! Awesome!

Shelly do you think that I could work with home made swiss meringue buttercream???
I have some left over of a neopolitan cake that I made, and I would soooooooo love to make this fudge, neopolitan style.
Also it looks so adorable and its SOOOOOOOO easy, thank you so much 🙂

  3. I have never seen fudge made like this but it sounds like it would work with any frosting. I am excited to try it.

My birthday is Valentine’s Day. Growing up, it was always a horrible day to have a birthday because I couldn’t bring cupcakes to school because they were having a party. Now I guess it is my husband’s problem 🙂

I think it would work, but I am not sure how well it would release out. Maybe you could freeze it in the silicon and then they would pop out easier 🙂 let me know if you try it!

  4. Love this, Shelly. Two ingredients-even better!!! We have fudged mines-I made my Valentine’s fudge last night and it failed. Miserably. I like yours waaaay better!

  5. Tabitha

Looks amazing! I fell in love with your 2 ingredient pumpkin cookies so I am so excited to try this new 2 ingredient recipe. I’m thinking chocolate…yum!!!

  6. So unique! I’ve been inspired to feature your fudge in my Friday Food Fetish roundup and on Pinterest. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next and please let me know if you have any objections…

My son is also a V-Day baby – except he will be 14 this year so the baby thing may not apply. I highly recommend Chuckie Cheese on V-Day. It is always deserted. I mean who goes to Chuckie Cheese on Valentines!

  8. So Cute !!!
Hihihi I really enjoyed reading your post :O)
Great fudge + You’re so right: “Valentines is now, “all about the children”…much like EVERY OTHER DAY OF MY LIFE!”

HI Im not familiar with a ‘can of strawberry frosting’… is it the same as the strawberry frosting you would ice a cake with? Sorry – Australia may not have this product so as Id LOVE to make this Im trying to think of a solution… 🙂

      1. Tiffany

Yeah in Australia its usually Betty Crocker instead of Duncan Hines however I think I’ve only seen white chocolate and brown chocolate. I might have to add some strawberry essence (if that exists?) and some pink food colouring

I Cant Wait To Try This!! Although We Dont Have Can’s Of Frosting Here, Can I Make My Own To Add? My Birthday Is Valentines Day And My Parents Never Celebrated It When I Was Younger Either Which Is Kind Of Sad!! My Partner Thinks Its Amazing Though Cos He Gets Presents On My Birthday!! Although Last Year He Brought Me One On His Just To Make It Fair 😛

    1. shelly

Yes, I imagine that you could sub in homemade frosting, as long as it was a buttercream based frosting. A whipped cream based wouldn’t work so well!

  11. These are so darn cute and they look super easy to make. We’re not one of those couples that celebrates Valentine’s Day either but I think my co-workers might like them.

  12. So cute, and so easy too! It doesn’t get much better than that, does it? I have a question – I can never seem to find white chocolate chips at the supermarket – they are always just vanilla chips. Is that what you used? Or were they really white chocolate chips, and where do you get them?
