Cream Cheese Alfredo Sauce

15 Minute Easy Cream Cheese Alfredo Sauce is a quick, rich, and flavorful sauce makes your weeknight mealtime even easier!

Make sure to check out my traditional Fettuccini Alfredo sauce too!

Cream Cheese Alfredo Sauce Is Ready In 15 Minutes!

Alfredo Sauce is one of those things that literally everyone in my family will agree on. Seriously, what’s not to love? Butter, cheese, cream… and it’s generally served over a pasta recipe, because carbs coated in creamy sauce is quite possibly the perfect food…I mean as long as you’re not counting your calories/carbs/fat/macros or whatever the diet of the month is.

I make a pretty mean and super simple Fettuccine Alfredo. But if you’re looking for something a little different, and extra creamy, this easy cream cheese Alfredo sauce is a MUST try!

Why Add Cream Cheese to Alfredo Sauce?

Using cream cheese in your Alfredo sauce is a no brainer! It’s ridiculously easy, ultra creamy, and doesn’t do that thing that Alfredo sauces sometimes do…you know, when they separate or gets way too thick. Adding cream cheese is almost like a shortcut way to add creaminess and flavor!

Of course, the longer this Alfredo sauce simmers or sits off the heat, the thicker it will get, but it always stays creamy and pourable, which is fantastic for serving over tortellini, which my kids love.

Alfredo drizzled on top of pasta noodles

Ingredients:

  • butter
  • cream cheese
  • minced garlic
  • milk
  • Parmesan cheese
  •  seasoned salt
  • black pepper

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat melt the butter, cream cheese, and garlic together, stirring very frequently.
  2. Add the milk and whisk constantly until smooth and warm.
  3. Add in Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper and stir until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  4. If you would like to add any veggies or protein you can do that now!
  5. Serve over your favorite pasta.

What Can You Add?

You can add peas, mushrooms, chicken, bacon… whatever you want to make this sauce your own. It works perfectly with pretty much everything! You could even use it on white pizza, or on top of a grilled steak!

Cooking Tip

Since this sauce comes together so quickly don’t start it ahead of time…wait until you put your water on to boil for the pasta. This way everything comes together at the same time.

You really can’t ask for an easier, more filling, or family friendly meal for a weeknight dinner!

Description

This is such a quick a creamy pasta sauce, that you can make in under 15 minutes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 (8- ounce) package cream cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat melt the butter, cream cheese, and garlic together, stirring very frequently.
  2. Add milk and whisk constantly until smooth and warm.
  3. Add in Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper and stir until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Serve over your favorite pasta.

Notes

Sauce will thicken as it cools, or if simmered too long. If this happens, just add a little more milk.

I used whole milk for this recipe, but you can also use 2%.

This makes enough sauce to coat 1 pound of pasta

  1. Absolutely yummy. I made a variation using Almond Milk instead of Milk and added 1/2 tsp of garlic powder and dried basil. Added to fettuccini, chicken and Brussels sprouts.

  2. Love love love this recipe ! If I am wanting to make more pasta for a bigger dinner party would I be able to double the recipe and it still work out fine ?

  3. I seldom comment on recipes but this is too good. I just made a batch using Shiritaki noodles. I mixed half the sauce with two packages which is enough for 4 decent sized servings. But even if I pigged out and only split it into two we’re talking a total of 100 calories and 7 carbs! I’m in weight loss heaven! And it tastes super good. Thanks for posting.

  4. WOW! I have no words. I am so glad I came across your recipe. I am a huge fan of white sauce and anything with garlic. Thank you so much for sharing this!! xo

  5. I usually don’t comment, but this is an outstanding basic recipe. It’s excellent as is but, as others have noted, you could go many different ways with various ingredients, the possibilities are endless. Will be adding this to the permanent rotation. Well done!

  6. This was absolutely delicious!!!! I made it for my husband and I with 1 pound of fettuccine and we pretty much ate about 3/4 of it. Not only was it easy to make but it was so creamy and we talked about next time making it with cut up pieces of chicken. Thank you for such a wonderful recipe which I’ll definitely continue making!

  7. Honestly i dont know why you have such a little reviews. This recipe is the best! Ive added an extra tsp of garlic. And some chopped basil leaves too. Hands down BEST alfredo sauce recipe. My search ends here! Thank you for sharing. Lots of love all the way from South Africa xx

    Hey Shelly,
I tried this sauce last night and mixed it with Gemelli pasta, shredded cooked chicken and asparagus…………….delicious! Love that you can add anything to this quick, easy sauce and make it a complete meal. I was sweating it a little when the cream cheese still had a few lumps before I added the milk, but as soon as I added the milk it all came together beautifully. Thanks for another great recipe.
    Vicki

  9. Didn’t mention to simmer to thicken so I spent a good amount of time waiting for it to thicken. It didn’t really thicken up while on the stove but it eventually did enough after I added it to the pasta and let it sit a bit. Added bacon and it was pretty good. Next time will also add mushrooms and chicken.
